I have been really slacking on Zorro’s RDW training, unfortunately it has taken a back seat to the heat and all the traveling I have been doing for the other dogs. Now that the weather has started to break and I have been rejuvenated and I want to focus on getting a better DW performance from him. As mush as I have resisted doing this in the past, I have decided to try using a stride regulator to see if we can get a more consistent and fast performance. I would say that in a trial situation he has about 80% consistency but has a slow performance. In training he is much faster but has a consistency of about a .05%. Needless to say I think there is room for improvement here. What I have noticed is that he is too busy looking at me on the down ramp that he takes that last step as a leap. When I put in the Manners Minder that goes away but as soon as there is no Manners Minder we get the leap. I am hoping the stride regulator will help him concentrate a bit more about eyes in front as opposed to “where is mom” Have done one session so far and I like what I see. Will try and tape my next sessions. I think I will also play with it a bit with Zippy as well. We will see how this all works out, stay tuned….
