Roxy and I headed Providence, RI for the Northeast Regional. We had an amazing time!! The facility is top notch and the club ran a super trial! It was great seeing all my east coast buddies! Roxy ran great all weekend, loving the turf and the A/C. We came to the regional in hopes of getting a Steeplechase and Grand Prix bye for Cynosport. An unfortunate slip in the weaves and missed DW contact cost us the GP bye, but we ended up 4th in Steeplechase finals with a bye and 3rd in Biathlon, a bonus!!
I am sure many of you are sick of hearing about how proud I am of Roxy, but I have to say it again, this dog is all heart!! It is so great to see her confidence building with each run and how she truly gives her whole heart to me in everything we do. We had an incident with another dog on our last day at the regional right before our first run. Six months ago I think that would have been it for her, she would not have wanted to run at all. I continued our normal pre-run routine but inside I had a million thoughts running through my head, most of them panicking. I pushed the negative thoughts out and focused on our routine and off we went! Before Roxy I had never had tricks that I taught my dogs at the start line. I started doing this with Roxy and hoped it would help her when we stepped to the line. I was so grateful on Sunday we had those tricks!! As soon as we started doing those tricks I had my girl back. She was a little distracted for that first run but nothing that anyone else could see, only me knowing her like I do. So proud of this little dog!!
Without further ado, (and because I am feeling particularly lazy and don’t feel like writing more) here are our video highlights!! Enjoy!!
